The following senses poem was the winner in a competition that I ran at Ryecroft Infant School on the topic of "Bonfire Night." Kimiko Uttley, aged 6 years old wrote this after we all spent a day having fun with poetry together and thinking of all of the different senses that we used on bonfire night...

I went to a bonfire with my mummy,
And then I had a cheese-burger and it was yummy!
We saw the fireworks go high in the sky.
We heard the crowd go "My, oh my!"
It was so cold I had on my mittens,
But because it was so noisy
We didn't see any kittens.
